Norman Mukuru · The Coffee Yards

Four community washing stations on the eastern slopes of Mt. Elgon, drawing on roughly 300 registered smallholders. Heritage SL14 and SL28 trees at 1,400–2,000 m. Norman ran collection and processing for one of Uganda's largest exporters; when it folded, he built his own.

He drove trucks of coffee cherry before he built a drying station of his own in Arbegona, Sidama. Within two years, four of Ethiopia's top-ten Cup of Excellence lots were processed there. This is his Grade 1, sealed 96 hours.

When does the barista kit arrive?

The first piece ships inside your first box — same box as the coffee, no second shipment. Prepay three months and the whole kit comes in box one.

Can I pause, skip or cancel?

Anytime, from your account. Your gift schedule picks up exactly where it left off.

Do I get this lot every month?

Your first box is this coffee. After that we send the lot we're most excited about — and you can swap any bag right in your cart.

Fermented coffee — is that new?

Every coffee on earth is fermented — it's how the fruit comes off the bean. Almost all of it happens in open air, unmeasured. Our producers run the same step in sealed, oxygen-free tanks, timed to the hour. Not a new step — controlled for once.

Whole bean or ground?

Whole bean, always. These aromatics fade within days of grinding. Any burr grinder works.

When does it ship?

We roast in small rounds and seal each bag the same day it is roasted. Orders ship within 48 hours. Free shipping over $50; a flat $7 below.

What if I don't love it?

Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we'll swap your first bag for a different lot, free — opened bag and all. Unopened bags can be returned within 14 days.
