Roast

Why “beyond”?

We are a house of controlled fermentation — but control isn’t one technique. This lot is the proof: no sealed tanks, no extended window, just the classic washed process executed with precision at serious altitude. If our anaerobic lots show what fermentation can add, this one shows what discipline alone can do. One “beyond” lot holds a place in the lineup for exactly that reason.

About the producer

Mulugeta Muntasha drove trucks of coffee cherry before he ever processed one. He came home to Bursa, built his own drying station — Dawencho — and in his first year placed second in Ethiopia’s Cup of Excellence with the Dawencho farmer group, and sixth under his own name. The next year, four of the competition’s top ten lots were processed at his station, including the first-place coffee of Legesse Botola, his brother-in-law. This lot comes from his 600 outgrowers around Arbegona.
