Reviews & User Content Policy

We'd rather have twelve honest reviews than a thousand invented ones. This policy explains how reviews work on anaerobic-coffees.com.
Who can review
Reviews come from people who bought the coffee. Reviews from verified purchases are labelled as such.
How we ask
We email customers after their coffee has had time to arrive and be brewed, and we ask what they thought. We ask the same way of everyone, whatever we expect them to say. We never suggest a rating, never ask only happy customers, and never route unhappy customers somewhere private instead of to the review form.
Incentives
If we ever offer something in exchange for a review — a discount, a sample, an entry into a draw — then:
- it is offered for writing a review, not for writing a positive one;
- it is offered to everyone we ask, regardless of what they say; and
- the review is clearly labelled as incentivised.
People connected to us
Anyone connected to Anaerobic — founders, employees, family, friends, contractors, or anyone we've paid — must clearly disclose that connection in any review or testimonial about our coffee, anywhere. We don't post reviews of our own products without saying who we are.
What we publish and what we remove
We publish negative reviews. We do not hide, delay, reorder, or filter reviews based on how positive they are, and we do not publish only the good ones.
We remove content — applying the same standard to positive and negative alike — only when it is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, spam, off-topic, contains someone's personal information or trade secrets, or is not from a genuine customer.
You will never be penalised for an honest review. Nothing in our Terms restricts your right to say what you think about our coffee, and we will never threaten legal action over an honest opinion.
What we don't do
We do not write, buy, sell, commission, or exchange fake reviews. We do not buy followers, likes, or other engagement. We do not misrepresent anyone's opinion as an independent one.
Your content
You keep ownership of your review, photos, and other content. You give us permission to use it in our marketing with the name or handle you posted under. Details are in Section 10 of our Terms of Service.
Product claims
Tasting notes are our honest description of what we taste; palates differ.
Where we show a cupping score, we tell you where it came from. An exact number is the score recorded at importer arrival cupping. A number followed by "+" is the importer's grade band, not a specific score. We will never publish a score we haven't got, and we'll tell you who scored a coffee if you ask.
Tell us if something looks wrong
If you think a review on our site is fake or misleading, email contact@anaerobic-coffees.com. We investigate every report.
